On 7th May 2026, Buna Charity Organisation successfully hosted an antenatal and child immunisation outreach activity at its premises in Kibogo A, Nyamarunda Sub County, Kibaale District.
The exercise was conducted by health workers from Nyamarunda Health Centre III together with staff from Buna Charity Organisation. The outreach aimed at bringing essential healthcare services closer to the community, especially pregnant mothers and children who previously faced challenges in accessing these services due to long distances, transport costs, and time spent travelling.
The initiative has greatly improved access to antenatal care and child immunisation services within the community. Many women who had previously missed antenatal visits are now able to attend more easily, while more children are receiving timely immunisation services.
Currently, antenatal and child immunisation services are offered every first Thursday of each month at the organisation’s premises. On average, over 40 pregnant mothers receive antenatal services, while more than 90 children are immunised every month.
Because mothers can now access these services nearer to their homes, they spend less time travelling and are able to return home earlier to engage in productive activities that support the wellbeing and development of their families.
Despite this progress, the available facilities are still inadequate to fully meet the growing healthcare needs of the community. The room currently being used is too small, and there is still a shortage of essential medical equipment such as blood pressure (BP) machines, admission beds, delivery beds, weighing scales, laboratory equipment, and other essential medical supplies. The organisation also lacks an ambulance to support emergency referrals and transportation of patients in critical condition.
In addition, there is still a shortage of vaccines used in child immunisation as well as medicines used to manage common diseases such as malaria, cough, measles, and other infections affecting children and mothers in the community.
Buna Charity Organisation therefore calls upon donors, development partners, well-wishers, and government agencies to support the organisation in expanding and improving healthcare services within the community. Support towards construction of more health facilities, establishment of a laboratory, provision of medical equipment, an ambulance, medicines, vaccines, admission beds, delivery beds, and other health supplies will go a long way in saving lives and improving the wellbeing of mothers and children in the area.
